According to his personal trainer — Jackman was in good shape when he started his Wolverine training. However, Ramsbottom likes to put his clients through a physical fitness assessment. And this was the case with Hugh also.
The Complete Hugh Jackman Training Program for Wolverine
His training program consisted of working out five days per week. On Fridays he would have Jackman participate in a 1 1/2 hour “Boot Camp Workout Class.” This workout consisted of bodyweight exercises performed in interval fashion. Its main purpose was to keep changing the workout to avoid plateaus and to make Jackman lean.
The reason for varying the workout was to utilize the principle of “Muscle Confusion.” Ramsbottom was quoted as saying… “people stick with the same program for too long — they tend to plateau and stop making gains. However, if you change certain variables such as sets, tempo and exercise equipment — it’s going to force the body to change.”
Hugh Jackman Workout
As a result of this “Hugh Jackman training for Wolverine program” — he was able to get his bench press up to 315 pounds and was doing leg presses with just over 1000 pounds.
The workout routine in itself was nothing new or earth shattering. It consisted of free weight exercises such as — bench presses, lunges, squats, and leg presses — just to name a few.
The program consisted of three weeks heavy with plenty of rest between sets. Then they would switch to lighter weights — would slower repetitions — utilizing a four count up and four count down. Each workout was different and they added in some explosive exercises.
If you will stick to a healthy diet and commit to working out consistently using some of the exercises used in the “Hugh Jackman training for Wolverine” you will have no problem adding lean muscle mass your body and having ripped six pack abs.
